Platinum jewellery is usually Pt 950, meaning 95% pure platinum. Its price is the metal value (weight × rate × purity) plus making charges and 3% GST. Making charges for platinum are often higher than for gold, because platinum is harder to work. A 6 g Pt 950 band at ₹3,500 a gram of pure platinum holds about ₹19,950 of metal before making charges and GST.
| Mark | Purity | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Pt 950 | 95% | Standard for platinum jewellery |
| Pt 900 | 90% | Some bands and settings |
| Pt 850 | 85% | Lower-cost pieces |
