Quick answer

A dilution of 1:10 means 1 part concentrate to 10 parts water, so 11 parts in total. For a 1 litre spray bottle at 1:10, use about 91 ml of concentrate and 909 ml of water. At 1:50, the same bottle needs 20 ml of concentrate. Always add concentrate to water, and follow the label for safety and strength.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the second number of the ratio from the label (1:10 means 10).
  2. Enter your bottle or bucket size in ml.
  3. Add the concentrate first measured, then top up with water.

Frequently asked questions

Is 1:10 the same as 10%?
Not exactly. 1:10 is 1 part in 11 (about 9.1%); 10% is 1 part in 10.
Can I make it stronger to clean better?
Stronger is not always better and can damage surfaces or skin; follow the label.
Should I mix two cleaners?
Never mix bleach with acids or ammonia-based cleaners; it releases toxic gas.
