Cooking time scales with power: your time = recipe time × recipe watts ÷ your watts. If a pack says 3 minutes at 1,000 W and your microwave is 800 W, cook for about 3 minutes 45 seconds. A 1,200 W microwave would need about 2 minutes 30 seconds. Stir halfway and check the food is steaming hot all the way through.
| Your microwave | Time |
|---|---|
| 600 W | 5 min 0 s |
| 700 W | 4 min 17 s |
| 800 W | 3 min 45 s |
| 900 W | 3 min 20 s |
| 1000 W | 3 min 0 s |
| 1200 W | 2 min 30 s |
Times are estimates; food safety comes first.
