Ceiling fans are sized by sweep (blade span). Rooms up to 75 sq ft need a 900 mm fan, 75–125 sq ft a 1,050–1,200 mm fan, 125–175 sq ft a 1,200 mm fan and 175–250 sq ft a 1,400 mm fan. Larger halls need two fans. Blades should be 8–9 ft above the floor and at least 1 ft below the ceiling.

Yes. A 144 sq ft room suits a 1,200 mm (48") fan.

BLDC fans use about 28–35 W against 70–80 W for regular fans, which can save ₹1,000+ a year per fan with heavy use.
