Quick answer

Readymade blouses are sized by bust in inches: a 36 blouse fits a 36-inch bust. A good blouse chart also lists waist (where the blouse ends), shoulder, armhole and blouse length, because those decide whether it fits. Sizes grade 2 inches per size on bust and waist and about three-quarters of an inch on armhole. Add margins in the note if your blouses have them.

Frequently asked questions

What are margins in a readymade blouse?
Extra seam allowance, often 1–2 inches, that a tailor can let out. Mention it, because it lets buyers go up a size.
Should I include sleeve length?
Yes, if the blouse has sleeves. Short sleeves are usually 5–7 inches and elbow sleeves 10–12 inches.
Is blouse size the same as bra size?
No. Blouse size is the full bust measurement, which is usually larger than the bra band number.
