Quick answer

Reward value = points earned × value of one point. A card that gives 2 points per ₹100, with points worth ₹0.25, returns 0.5% on spending. With 5× points on a partner site, ₹20,000 of shopping earns 2,000 points, worth ₹500, which is 2.5% back. Check the point value for the redemption you will use; vouchers and air miles are often worth more than statement credit.

How to use this calculator

  1. Find the base earn rate on your card's rewards page, for example 2 points per ₹100.
  2. Enter any multiplier for the site or category, and the bonus point cap if there is one.
  3. Enter the rupee value of one point for the redemption you will actually use.

Formula

Points = (spend ÷ ₹ per earn block) × points per block × multiplier (bonus points capped if your card has a cap)

Reward value = points × value of one point

Effective cashback % = reward value ÷ spend × 100

Card reward rules and point values change. Check your card's latest rewards terms before a big purchase.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the value of one reward point?
Divide a redemption's rupee value by the points it needs. A ₹500 voucher for 2,000 points means ₹0.25 a point.
Are reward points better than a bank discount?
Compare the effective % shown here with the instant discount. A 10% instant discount usually beats 2–3% in points, unless it has a low cap.
Do reward points expire?
Many cards expire points after 2 to 3 years. Check your statement and redeem before expiry.
