Weight in grams × the day's rate for that purity, plus making charges, plus 3% GST on the total. Making charges are often 8–25% of the gold value.
RBI caps the loan-to-value at 85% of the gold's value for loans up to ₹2.5 lakh, 80% up to ₹5 lakh and 75% above that, counting only the pure gold content.
24K is 99.9% pure and used for coins and bars. 22K (916) is 91.6% pure and used for jewellery because it is harder.
