Indian amounts are written in thousands, lakhs and crores: ₹12,45,678.50 is "Rupees Twelve Lakh Forty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Seventy-Eight and Fifty Paise Only". On a cheque, start right after "Rupees", end with "Only", and draw a line through any space left. The international form of the same number uses millions: one million two hundred forty-five thousand.
