Quick answer

A combo often earns more even at a lower price, because you pay shipping once instead of twice. Selling a ₹499 and a ₹399 item separately at 15% commission and ₹70 shipping each leaves ₹303. Selling them as a ₹799 combo with ₹90 shipping leaves ₹269, so this bundle earns ₹34 less per buyer. It still pays if it brings in buyers who would only have bought one item.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter both products' prices and costs.
  2. Enter the combo price you are planning.
  3. Enter fees as a percentage and shipping for one item and for the heavier combo parcel.

Formula

Profit if sold separately = (price A − cost A − fee % of A − shipping) + (price B − cost B − fee % of B − shipping)

Profit from the combo = combo price − cost A − cost B − fee % of combo price − combo shipping

Buyer's saving = price A + price B − combo price

These results use the numbers you enter. Check the combo's category commission on your marketplace's fee page.

Frequently asked questions

When does a combo make more money?
When the shipping you save is bigger than the discount you give, or when the combo brings in buyers who would only have bought one item.
Do marketplaces charge commission on the combo price?
Yes. Commission is charged on the combo's selling price, under the category of the combo listing.
How big should the combo discount be?
Start with the shipping you save as the discount. Buyers notice 10–15% off, which is often close to one shipping fee on low-price items.
