Quick answer

Jewellery price in India = gold value + making charges + 3% GST. Gold value is the weight in grams × today's rate for that purity (22K is 91.6% of the 24K rate). Making charges are usually 6–25% of the gold value or a fixed amount per gram, and 3% GST applies to the gold value plus making charges.

How to use this calculator

  1. Check today's 24K gold rate per 10 g (or silver rate per kg) from your jeweller or a trusted rate website, and enter it.
  2. Select the purity of the piece and enter its weight from the bill or tag.
  3. Enter the making charge quoted by the jeweller, as a percentage or rupees per gram.

How is gold jewellery price calculated in India?
Price = (weight × rate for the purity) + making charges + 3% GST on both. For 10 g of 22K gold at a 24K rate of ₹1,00,000 per 10 g, the gold value is ₹91,600; with 12% making (₹10,992) and 3% GST the total is about ₹1,05,670.
Is GST charged on making charges?
Yes. When you buy jewellery from a shop, 3% GST is charged on the full bill, including the metal value and the making charges.
