Quick answer

Indian bangle sizes such as 2.4 or 2.6 describe the inner diameter in inches and sixteenths: 2.4 means 2 and 4/16 inches (57.2 mm). To find yours, fold your thumb into your palm, measure around the widest part of your hand in mm, and divide by 3.14 for the diameter. Most Indian women wear 2.4 to 2.6.

How to measure

  1. Bring your thumb and little finger together, as if putting on a bangle.
  2. Wrap a tape or thread around the widest part of the hand, across the knuckles.
  3. Enter the measurement in mm. Or measure the inside diameter of a bangle that fits.
