Quick answer

Compare protein powders by cost per gram of protein, not price per kg. A ₹2,499 1 kg tub with 24 g of protein in a 33 g scoop gives 30 servings at ₹82 each, and each gram of protein costs ₹3.44. The protein content is 73%. A cheaper tub with more fillers can cost more per gram of protein.

How to use this calculator

  1. Read the pack price and net weight.
  2. Copy serving size and protein per serving from the nutrition label.
  3. Repeat for another brand and compare cost per gram of protein.

Formula

Servings = pack weight ÷ serving size

Cost per serving = price ÷ servings

Cost per gram of protein = price ÷ (servings × protein per serving)

Protein % = protein per serving ÷ serving size × 100

Protein figures come from the label. Compare brands using the same serving basis.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good protein percentage for whey?
Whey concentrate is usually 70–80% protein, and whey isolate 85–90%. Below 60% often means added sugar or fillers.
Is a 2 kg pack cheaper than 1 kg?
Usually per gram, but check the expiry date. Opened powder is best used within 2 to 3 months.
How do I check if protein powder is genuine?
Buy from the brand store or authorised sellers, check the FSSAI licence number on the label and use the brand's authenticity code if it has one.
