Add about 2.5 inches of ease to your body chest and round up to the next even size: a 37-inch chest wears a 40 (M) kurta for a regular fit. At 5'9" a knee-length kurta is about 40 inches long; a short kurta for jeans is about 31 inches.

Just below the knee for most heights, about 2 inches longer than a regular kurta.
