Fitted trousers and cigarette pants must fit both waist and hips, so take the larger of the two sizes. Palazzos and wide-leg pants with an elastic waist only need the waist to fit. A 30-inch waist with 39-inch hips is size M, waist 30. At 160 cm an ankle-length pair needs about a 28-inch inseam; full-length trousers worn with heels need about 30 inches.

What is inseam?
The length from the crotch seam to the hem, along the inside of the leg. It decides where the trousers end on you.
What size palazzo should I buy?
Buy by waist. Elastic palazzos usually stretch 2–3 inches, so if you are between sizes, the smaller size often fits.
Are trouser sizes the same as jeans sizes?
The waist number is the same, but jeans often sit lower and have less stretch, so check the rise.
